The 4th Generation Tablo is our current DVR model. If you're curious about our previous legacy models, go here.
Tablo is a whole-home, network-connected DVR that allows you to watch, pause, record and stream local over-the-air broadcast networks that you can get with a TV antenna and a selection of free internet-based streaming channels.
What is Over-The-Air (OTA) TV?
Networks like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC broadcast their programming live, and in high def, from local towers in your area. All you need to receive these channels is a TV antenna.
There are no costs or subscriptions to watch these networks with a TV antenna. Funding is provided through advertising and the payments cable, satellite, and streaming companies make to broadcasters for the ability to retransmit those channels through their services.
What is a DVR?
DVR stands for digital video recorder. In Tablo's case, it's a device that connects to a TV antenna and your home Wi-Fi network.
Once setup is complete, a single Tablo device allows you to watch, pause, record and stream free TV via Tablo apps on any compatible smart TV, streaming, or mobile device in your home.
The Tablo app makes it easy to browse the available programming with a rolling 14 days of TV guide data, set recordings, and much more.
Unlike other DVRs on the market, there are no fees or subscriptions for the TV guide data or DVR features of the 4th-generation Tablo.
