Feature Descriptions
TV Guide Data
All of Tablo's apps are powered by TV Guide data. Users with subscriptions will be able to discover and easily set recordings for programs airing over the next 14 days, instead of just the next 24 hours for those who opt out of a subscription.
Live TV Grid View
With or without a subscription, you’ll be able to see at least a full 24 hours of programming within the Live TV grid view. You can also play live TV from this view, and with an active subscription, set recordings from this view as well.
A 14-day Live TV grid is standard on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and TV-connected Tablo DVRs with an active TV Guide Data Service subscription but will need to be enabled on Roku devices.
Scheduled & Recordings Views
All Tablo users have access to the scheduled view which shows all of your scheduled recordings, whether or not there is an airing in the next 14 days.
From the scheduling view, you can unschedule specific airings and resolve scheduling conflicts.
The recordings view will show all of the recordings on your Tablo for you to select for playback.
Manual Recordings
Both subscribers and non-subscribers have the ability to create manual recordings however, this is the only way for non-subscribers to set programs to record.
Manual recordings are set by date/time/channel on a one-time or repeating schedule.
You can find full instructions for setting up a manual recording using the Tablo App here.
Views & Filters
Tablo subscribers have access to custom views and filters that make it easy to discover your favorite programs and new shows including:
- Prime Time, Movies & Sports
- Premiering, New (airing for the first time) & Genre (comedy, drama, children, etc.)
Series Info & Cover Art
A full guide data subscription provides episode and series synopses so you can read what a show is about or know whether or not you've already seen a particular episode.
When browsing, cover art for programs creates a Netflix-style guide in the Tablo app. Without a subscription, program tiles within all apps will revert to simple blue tiles with white text.
Record By Series
Active subscribers will be able to record by series.
With this feature, you can choose to record ALL airings of that program or ALL NEW to just get episodes that have been previously unaired.
Advanced Recordings
Available for subscribers only, Tablo's advanced recording options provide more flexible scheduling and recording management capabilities including:
- Adjust Start/Stop Time - Start recordings up to 10 mins early and end as much as 3 hours after the scheduled program time
- Keep X Recordings - Retain all episodes or only a select number of airings
- Recording Channel Selector - Choose which channel to record from if multiple channels are airing a favorite program
You can read more about Advanced Recording features here.
Tablo Connect
Tablo Connect is Tablo's out-of-home streaming service. This lets you access live and recorded TV from your network-connected Tablo via paired devices anywhere in the world.
This is a subscriber-only feature and is not compatible with TV-connected Tablo DVRs.
You can find more information about Tablo Connect and how it works here
Secondary Television Streaming
For legacy TV-connected Tablo DVRs like Tablo DUAL HDMI and QUAD HDMI, in-home streaming to up to two secondary televisions is a subscriber-only feature.
This allows you to stream live or recorded TV from your TV-connected Tablo DVR to streaming set-top-boxes and smart TVs running on the following models:
- Roku
- Amazon Fire TV
- Android TV
If you have a network-connected Tablo DVR, streaming within the home does not require a subscription.
You can read more about secondary television streaming here.
TV Guide Data Service Subscription FAQs
Why Do I Only See 24 Hours of Guide Data?
By default, the Live TV Guide will show 24 hours of guide data. The remaining 2 weeks are sorted into the TV Shows, Movies, and Sports tabs.
Tablo customers with a TV Guide Data Service subscription using Roku devices can enable a full 14-day live TV grid in the settings screen.
A 14-day Live TV grid is standard on legacy apps on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and TV-connected Tablo DVRs with active TV Guide Data Service subscriptions.
