Recording your favorite shows with Tablo is easy. But sometimes basic episode or series recording schedules don't perfectly fit your needs.

For example, when your favorite show frequently airs after a sporting event, you can use an Advanced Recording Feature to add time to your recording schedule in case the game goes into overtime.

4th Generation Tablo users can access these options for free whereas Legacy models need a subscription to take full advantage of them.

To see Advanced Recording Features select a series and RECORDING OPTIONS.

Advanced Recording Features Available

Start

With this feature, you can start recordings up to ten minutes early to two minutes late from the show's scheduled start time. This is handy if you want an opening buffer or wish to skip the show's opening credits.

Stop

With this feature, you can stop recordings up to two minutes early to three hours late from the show's scheduled stop time. This is handy for when you expect a sporting event to go into overtime or when you'd like to skip the end credits of a show.

Keep

The keep feature helps to manage your recording storage space automatically.

Enabling the keep feature on programs that air frequently (talk shows, games shows, news programs, etc.) will tell your Tablo to retain only the most recent 20, 10, 5, 3 or last single airing(s). Older episodes are deleted automatically from the series as new ones are added, so your recording storage space isn't cluttered with out-of-date content.

Instead of using the Delete All or Delete Watched options, you can enable the keep feature temporarily to delete some, but not all, older recordings within a series.

However, the All setting should be used sparingly. If you set a keep level of All or Last 20 Episodes on too many series, recordings in other series could be removed prematurely if you also have auto-delete enabled.

Channel

If you live between broadcast areas, you may have two different channels broadcasting the same content. If you notice that one channel tends to receive more reliable reception than another, this feature allows you to choose that specific channel for recording.

If you select All Channels, the channel with the strongest signal at your last channel scan, airing this series, will be used.
