Renaming Your Tablo

We recommend you rename your current Tablo before starting the setup of a second one. This will ensure you will be able to tell which Tablo is which when they are both connected to the network.  Here is how you do this using different legacy Tablo apps:

  • Web App: Navigate to the settings screen, at the top of the general section, you will be able to rename your Tablo.
  • Roku: Navigate to the settings screen, near the bottom, you will see the About section. From there, you can select Edit to rename your Tablo.
  • Amazon Fire TV or Firestick: Navigate to the settings screen, near the bottom, you will see the About section. From there, you can select Edit to rename your Tablo
  • Apple TV: Navigate to the settings screen, near the bottom, you will see the About section. From there, select your Tablo’s name, and you will be brought to a screen where you can rename it.
  • iPad or iPhone: Navigate to the settings screen, near the bottom, you will see the About section. From there, tap on your Tablo’s name, and you will be brought to a screen where you can rename it.
  • Android Smartphone or Tablet: Navigate to the settings screen, at the top of the general section, you will be able to rename your Tablo.
  • Android TV: Navigate to the settings screen, near the bottom, you will see the About section. From there, you can select Edit to rename your Tablo.

Disconnecting Your Tablo

To ensure that you are only seeing the new Tablo on your network, we recommend that you disconnect your first Tablo from the power while you complete the Wi-Fi setup on your new Tablo. After your new Tablo is online and the light is solid blue, you can reconnect the power to your old Tablo.

Splitting Your Antenna Signal Can Reduce Signal Strength

Connecting a second Tablo to the same TV antenna using a splitter will result in a significant loss of signal strength. This means that you may need to add an amplifier to your setup to mitigate the signal loss and ensure all of your channels continue to come in clearly. You can read more about perfecting your setup here.

How to Switch Between Tablo Devices

Once both Tablo units have been connected to your network, you will be able to switch between them from any of the devices that have the Tablo app.  Here is how you do that using different clients:

  • Web App: At the very bottom of the menu, there is a Disconnect option. From there, you will be brought to the Connect to Tablo screen, where you can choose a Tablo.
  • Roku: Navigate to the top of the menu on the left side of the screen, from there you will see an option to switch to another Tablo unit.
  • Amazon FireTV or Firestick: Navigate to the bottom of the settings screen and select Disconnect. From there, you will be brought to the Connect to Tablo screen, where you can choose a Tablo.
  • Apple TV: Navigate to the top of the menu on the left side of the screen, from there you will see the option to switch to another Tablo unit.
  • iPad or iPhone: At the top left of the screen, there is an icon showing the Tablo unit. When you select this, you will see both of your Tablo DVRs listed so that you can choose which you would like to connect to.
  • Android Smartphone or Tablet: Near the bottom of the menu, there is a Disconnect option. From there, you will be brought to the Connect to Tablo screen, where you can choose which Tablo to connect to.
