If you would like to add a second 4th Generation Tablo device to your home network here are a few tips and tricks that will help:

Rename Your Tablo

We recommend that you rename your current Tablo device before setting up your second Tablo. This will help you tell the devices apart when both are connected to the network.

Here is how you do so using different 4th Generation Tablo apps:

iPhone or iPad

Navigate to settings on the top right-hand corner of your screen.

Then scroll down to the About section, and select Name.

Android Phone or Tablet

Navigate to Settings in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

Splitting Your Antenna Signal Can Reduce Signal Strength

Connecting a second Tablo to the same TV antenna using a splitter will result in a loss of signal strength. 4th Generation Tablo devices have a built-in 10dB amplifier that is on by default. This can help mitigate the signal loss. However, signal loss is still possible when splitting the signal from one antenna to multiple devices. You may need an accessory called a Distribution Amplifier to resolve this, or connect a separate TV antenna to your second Tablo device.

How to Switch Between Tablo Devices

Once both Tablo units are connected to your network, you will be able to switch between them through the Tablo app on any of your compatible devices.   Here is how you do that using different platforms:

iPad, iPhones, Android Phones and Tablets

Select the profile icon on the top right of the Tablo app. Both of your Tablo DVRs will be listed. Select the one you wish to connect to.

On your TV

Navigate to the Settings screen using the navigation bar on the left of your screen.

Select Switch Tablo Device.

Then select the Tablo you wish to connect to.

(NOTE - This newer connectivity screen is not yet available on all platforms, so yours may look slightly different.)
