This setting is available only in the 4th Generation Tablo app for Samsung (TIZEN), LG (webOS), and Android or iOS mobile. On Samsung and LG, it is only visible on app version 2.0.6+.

Due to software limitations, Tablo is unable to display closed captions on over-the-air broadcasts on Samsung (TIZEN) and LG (webOS) TVs.
However, users running version 2.0.6+ of either app can choose to enable AUDIO COMPATIBILITY MODE within the SETTINGS screen.
When set to ON, this will cause all live TV and recordings to default to stereo sound versus surround sound. When recorded in stereo sound, closed captioning will be supported on newly completed OTA recordings saved to internal storage.
Closed captioning will remain unavailable on in-progress recordings, recordings saved to external storage or those in surround sound as the video must be in stereo and have completed the archiving process to be turned into an MPEG-4 file to work.
To fully enjoy closed captions without compromising sound quality, we recommend connecting a supported streaming box or stick to your Samsung or LG television to access the Tablo app.
Enabling or Disabling Audio Compatibility Mode
Audio Compatibility mode can be enabled or disabled in SETTINGS > TROUBLESHOOTING. There you can turn AUDIO COMPATIBILITY MODE ON or OFF.
Selecting ON will display the following prompt:
You may then turn the setting ON or keep it OFF.
Once Audio Compatibility Mode has been enabled within your 4th Generation Tablo app, you can disable it at any time. If you do, Surround Sound (AC3) will immediately return for live TV, but recordings previously created in Stereo Sound (AAC) will not be converted to Surround Sound (AC3).
