Can I Cancel My Tablo Subscription After the Legacy Transition?

The Legacy Transition allows most legacy Tablo devices to use 4th Generation Tablo apps. 

These apps provide many of the same advanced features as legacy Tablo apps, but without any ongoing fees or subscriptions. 

If you have an active TV Guide Data or Premium Service subscription for your legacy device and don't plan to use legacy Tablo apps moving forward, you can save money by canceling your subscription/s. 

NOTE - Legacy Tablo apps will no longer be available for download starting September 1st. Many of the underlying technologies used by legacy Tablo apps and services are becoming obsolete and are no longer maintainable. This is why we are discontinuing support for all legacy Tablo apps on September 1st, 2026.

If I Cancel My  Monthly/Annual TV Guide Data Service Subscription

Before choosing to cancel your legacy TV Guide Data Service subscription, please review the information below about what to expect.

  • TV Guide Data Will be Limited to 24 Hours in Legacy Apps 
    While you'll see a rolling 14 days of TV guide data in 4th Gen apps, 24 hours is the default amount for all legacy Tablo DVR apps that do not have a subscription.
     
  • Recording Schedules Will Be Limited to Manual Recordings in Legacy Apps
    While you'll be able to set series recording schedules via 4th Gen apps, scheduling will be limited to manual one-time or recurring schedules in your legacy apps. But this can still come in handy, since the 4th Generation apps don't currently have a manual recording feature. 
     
  • You Will Lose Access to Advanced Recording Features in Legacy Apps
    While 4th Generation Tablo apps have plenty of advanced recording features, you will lose advanced recording features on legacy apps. 
     
  • You Will Lose Access to Tablo Connect
    4th Generation Tablo apps do not support out-of-home streaming. If this feature is important to you, it will still be available via supported legacy apps when you have an active TV guide data service subscription. If you cancel your monthly/annual subscription, Tablo Connect will no longer be available to you.
     
  • You Will Lose Access to Automatic Commercial Skip If You Also Have a Premium Subscription
    4th Generation Tablo apps do not support Automatic Commercial Skip. If this feature is important to you, it will still be available via supported legacy apps when you have both an active TV Guide Data service and Premium Service subscription. However, both subscription types must be active for this feature to work. 
     
  • If You Have an Annual Subscription, You Will Not Be Able to Purchase One Again
    Annual TV Guide Data Service subscription plans were sunset on August 28th, 2023. If you cancel yours, you will not be able to resubscribe to an annual plan later. Monthly plans remain available. 
     

Lifetime Subscription Cancellations

We recommend that those with Lifetime TV Guide Data Service subscriptions DO NOT cancel their service. Lifetime plans are no longer available, and with no ongoing payments, there is no benefit. 

Those with Lifetime TV Guide Data Service subscriptions can continue to enjoy the benefits of their investment via legacy Tablo apps. 

Customers with both Lifetime TV Guide Data Service and Premium Service Subscriptions may wish to cancel JUST the Premium Service to avoid ongoing payments if they plan to stop using Automatic Commercial Skip via legacy Tablo apps.

Premium Service Subscriptions power the Automatic Commercial Skip service on legacy Tablo apps. 4th Generation Tablo apps do not support Automatic Commercial Skip.

This service also requires an active TV Guide Data service subscription, so you cannot maintain the former without the latter. 

However, if you plan to stop using Automatic Commercial Skip via legacy Tablo apps, you can cancel your Premium Service and keep your TV guide data service for other features. 

If you cancel your Premium Service subscription, you cannot sign up again, as this subscription option was sunset on August 24th, 2022
