When you're playing a program using the Tablo app, you can use your streaming device or smart TV's remote control to pause, fast-forward and rewind.
But while your program plays in the background, you can also browse for other shows to watch, see what's airing next, jump between two recently tuned channels and more without ever leaving the playback window.
These 'channel surfing' features are available by pressing the DOWN button on the directional pad (D-PAD) of your remote while you're playing something in the Tablo app.
The options available in the player window menu depend on whether you're viewing live or recorded TV.

Player Options When Watching Live
-
LAST CHANNEL
Selecting LAST CHANNEL (looks like a reverse arrow) will quickly bring you back to the live TV channel you were last watching.
This is helpful when you're keeping tabs on two different sporting events or just hopping between shows at commercial breaks.
NOTE - The LAST CHANNEL button will only appear once you've watched more than one channel live.
-
GO LIVE
If you've paused or rewound a live TV channel, selecting GO LIVE will bring you to what the channel is currently playing live.
If you're already watching from the current live position, GO LIVE will be disabled and instead show YOU'RE LIVE.
In-Player Content Tray Options When Watching Live
The In-Player Content Tray sits just beneath the scrubber bar in the player. While you're watching live TV, it allows you to browse for other things to watch, see what's airing next and get info about what you're watching, all while your program plays in the background.
-
CHANNELS
The CHANNELS tab in the in-player content tray allows you to browse what's airing on other channels and switch programs without having to return to the Live TV Grid guide. It's perfect for people who love to channel surf.
-
MORE EPISODES
The MORE EPISODES tab displays upcoming episodes of the show you're currently watching. You can select these to get more information or even set the episodes to record.
-
UP NEXT
The UP NEXT tab shows what's airing next on the channel you're watching. Just like the MORE EPISODES tab, you can select a program for more information and set recordings.
-
INFO
Selecting INFO will bring up details about the current episode you're watching.
Player Options When Watching a Recording
The player in the Tablo app has slightly different options when you're watching a recording.
LAST CHANNEL and GO LIVE are not available, but other basic options, including pause and closed captioning, will remain.
In Player Content Tray Options When Watching a Recording
When you're watching a recording, the In-Player Content Tray allows you to browse what's airing on live TV, for other recordings to watch and get info about what you're watching, all while your recording plays in the background.
-
CHANNELS
The CHANNELS tab will display what's currently airing on live TV while your selected recording continues to play in the background.
-
RECORDINGS
The RECORDINGS tab lets you browse and start playback of completed recordings from other series in your library.
-
UP NEXT
When you're in the mood to binge a series, the UP NEXT tab lets you browse and start playback of other completed recordings in the series you're currently watching.
NOTE - If the program you're watching is a movie, not part of a series or part of a series where you've recorded just one episode, selecting UP NEXT will display 'NO MORE RECORDINGS'.
-
INFO
Selecting INFO will bring up details about the current episode you're watching.
