The Category View is currently available for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Roku and iOS and Android mobile devices. It will roll out to other Tablo apps in the coming weeks.
The live TV screen on most 4th Generation Tablo apps offers several ways to display the channels you’ve selected to add to your channel lineup.
These include:
-
NEW Category View
- Over-the-air and free streaming channels are grouped by category, placing your favorite channels and major networks at your fingertips and making it easy to find something to watch based on your interests.
- This view is currently only available on 4th Generation Tablo apps for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Roku and iOS and Android mobile devices. However, it will become the default view on all platforms in the coming weeks.
-
Channels Grid View – Classic
- Channels are grouped traditionally based on channel numbers, with over-the-air channels at the top and streaming channels at the bottom.
Filters for your Favorite and Recent channels are available within the Channels Grid View.
In the Category View, Favorite channels are displayed as a category; however, the Recent view is not available.
You can switch your view at any time, and that view will remain selected, even if you close and relaunch the app.
About the Category View
The new Category View groups major local networks, your favorite channels, and other related networks together within the grid guide, making it even easier to browse and discover programming that matches your interests.
By sorting channels with similar content into groups instead of arbitrarily by channel number, you can quickly hop through the grid and find something great to watch, whether you want to laugh, check out the news or learn something new.
The available Categories are:

For channels that don’t fit into any other category.
The category to which a channel belongs is based on the metadata provided by the broadcaster. Some channels may appear in several.
Categories with no corresponding channels in your lineup will not be displayed. For instance, if you have no Favorite channels selected, Favorites will not appear on the list.
Selecting a Category
When you select a category, you’ll see both free streaming and over-the-air channels matching that category with associated TV guide data.
As usual, you can select the channel ID on the far left to begin playing that channel live or select an individual program to watch or record.
Channels View
The Channels View is the classic Live TV Grid style that 4th Generation Tablo users have always enjoyed. At the top of the grid, you’ll see your over-the-air channels sorted by channel number, with free streaming channels below.
Switching Between Views
It’s easy to switch between the default Category and classic Channels views.
Here’s how:
1) Select GUIDE OPTIONS in the upper left-hand corner of the Live TV Grid.
2) Under GUIDE VIEW, select CATEGORY VIEW or CHANNELS VIEW.
Your view will remain selected, even if you close and relaunch the app. You can switch your view at any time.
Filtering Your View
By selecting GUIDE OPTIONS, you can further filter your selected live TV grid view.
The following filters are available in either the Category View or Channels View:
-
Favorite Channels

Jump To Day

The following filters are only available only in the Channels View:
