Tablo TV App Cache - How and When to Clear It

Whenever an app communicates with the internet, it downloads what it needs to complete tasks. This data is saved in a space called a cache.

The next time the app needs something, if the required data is already in its cache, it uses that instead of re-downloading it. This saves time.

It's like a reference library.

Occasionally, bad data will slip into a cache. Often it's just something jumbled or out-of-date which can lead to errors. The best way to fix this is to empty the cache so it can be repopulated with good data.

Our Tablo apps have a cache. This article covers when and how to clear it.

When To Clear the Cache

There are two instances when you should clear an app's cache:

  • There's an Issue You Can't Solve
If you run into a problem such as an unknown error, your firmware not updating, slowness or freezing, it's a good idea to clear your cache.

  • After an Update
It's good practice to clear your cache after a software update. This may prevent problems from cropping up in the future.
