Tablo consumes very little power when compared to other devices in your home. On average, Tablo consumes about as much power as a clock radio or electric shaver. The average cable company set-top-box consumes twice as much as a Tablo device.
While power consumption varies slightly across models, these are the average consumption rates:
-
4th Generation Tablo Models (2-tuner and 4-tuner)
- Low Power - Idle State (No Active Recordings, Nothing Being Watched) = 5-6 Watts/Hour
- Max Power - Normal Use (4 Active Recordings, 1 Channel Being Watched) = 8-9 Watts/Hour
-
Legacy Network-Connected Tablo Models (Including Tablo DUAL LITE, Tablo QUAD)
- Low Power - Idle State (No Active Recordings, Nothing Being Watched) = 9.2 Watts/Hour
- Max Power - Normal Use (4 Active Recordings, 1 Channel Being Watched) = 15 Watts/Hour
-
Legacy TV-Connected Tablo Models (Tablo DUAL HDMI, Tablo QUAD HDMI)
- Low Power - Idle state (No Active Recordings, Nothing Being Watched) = 5-6 Watts/Hour
- Max Power - Normal Use (4 Active Recordings, 1 Channel Being Watched) = 8-9 Watts/Hour
These figures do not include the power consumed by attached USB hard drives.
To ensure recordings are captured and that your TV Guide data remains up-to-date, Tablo is designed as an always-on device. For this reason, it does not have an on/off switch and should remain powered on and connected to the internet at all times.
